Built 1899 by W. G. R. Sprague for Charles Wyndham. Opened 16 November 1899 in the presence of the Prince of Wales with T. W. Robertson's David Garrick. Used for drama and musical theatre performances (e. g. Sandy Wilson's muscial pastiche The Boy Friend which ran for 2078 performances from 1954, and Yasmina Reza's comedy Art (which ran for over 1500 performances from 1996). Linked by a bridge link to the Albery Theatre at rear. Operated by the Ambassador Theatre Group. 759 seats (+ 41 standing). (English)
