Built 1885-1886 as Kurhaustheater by Jean Keller for Friedrich von Hessing. Opened 25 July 1886 with Richard Genée's operetta Nanon, die Wirtin zum goldenen Lamm. 1920 repair works. Used as a cinema after rebuildings in the 1930s. From 1944 provisional home to the Augsburg Stadttheater ensemble. From 1951 used as dancing hall and cinema. Damaged by a fire in 1972. 1974-1981 repair and safety works. Renovated to the original plans ca. 1996. Currently used for operetta, musical and cabaret performances, concerts and balls. Ca. 600 seats. (English)

No heritage stage machinery 1986-1996 Restaurierung und Rekonstruktion des Theaters. Bühnenboden: Der Boden der Hauptbühne besteht aus Holz und ist permanent mit schwarzem Tanzboden bedeckt. Kulissen und Dekorationen dürfen auf dem Bühnenboden verschraubt bzw. mit Bühnenbohrern befestigt werden. Im Bereich der Hinterbühne besteht der Boden aus Fliesen. Ein verschrauben bzw. das Bohren in den Boden ist hier nicht möglich. Orchester- hebebühne: Der Orchestergraben kann auf vier unterschiedliche Ebenen gefahren werden: Bühne, Saal, Unterbühne/Orchester oder Stuhllager. (English)
