Re-opened as New Victoria Theatre. 1874 renamed Royal Victoria Palace Theatre. By 1880, known as the Old Vic. 1927 renovation by F. G. M. Chancellor (1454 seats). Damaged by bombs in 1941. Repaired until 1950 by Douglas W. Rowntree, re-opened Dec 1950. 1963-1976 home to the National Theatre company. 1982 rebuilding by Renton Howard Wood Levine architects. Currently 1067 seats.
