Built before 1392 as a salt warehouse. 1654 first used as a theatre. 1754 rebuilding as a theatre. 1812-1813 installation of boxes. 1827 major interior rebuilding with three galleries by Franz Sales Lochbihler (with a painted curtain also by Lochbihler). 1896 renovation. 1921-ca.1933 and 1952-ca.1967/1978 used as a cinema named Scala. 1954-1956 rebuilding by Sepp Zwerch (reduction by the upper gallery). 638 seats. 1963-1964 renovations, 2006-2007 major renovations (audience hall restored to the 1827 decoration) and extension by a glass foyer.
