Built 1884 as a casino. Since 1901 used as a theatre (Theater van Houtkamp). 1904 rebuilding by Harmen Jurjens Wesstra. Re-opened as Scala. Ca. 1400 seats. 1927 renovation. Closed after a last performance on 7 Feb 1956. Subsequently demolished in favour of a parking lot. (English)
