First theatre on the site opened 1794. Later various rebuildings: 1846-1848, 1868, 1956. Completely rebuilt 1982-1984 and again 2017-2025. Re-opened Sep 2025 as Schiller-Theater Rudolstadt, named after the German poet and playwright, Friedrich Schiller (1759-1805). Used for drama performances by the resident company and for opera and ballet performances by Theater Nordhausen. (English)
