Built by Teodoro de Anasagasti. Opened 15 May 1920 as Real Cinema by King Alfonso XIII. 1000 seats (plus 54 boxes). 1923 installation of an open-air roof cinema. During the Second Republic named Cine de Ópera (ca. 1931-1939?). Damaged by a bomb in 1936. Re-opened 1943. 1964-1965 renovations. 1367 seats. 1992 rebuilding by Gilbert Lopez-Atalaya, converting the building to a four-hall theatre centre for live theatre. Renamed Teatro Real Cinema. Largest hall: 400 seats. Currently closed (as of 2019). (English)
