Introduction

A person is a living being that is used in the database to identify important persons, writers of information, etc.

Header

Label*

• The name of the person in it's original language
• We do not translate this.
• Syntax: First name, Middle name or characters, Last name (but without commas, for example: Jean-Baptiste André Godin)

Description

• You can give a short (max 30 words) description of the person
• Syntax: nationality + occupation(s), for example: Italian architect and engineer.
• Optional to add dates of birth and death or other significant information about this person, for example: British engineer and inventor of Stereo.
• This will (not always) be translated

Also known as

• This field is used to facilitate searching.
• Always add Last name
• Add alternative spelling
• Add nicknames

Basic information

Field (P19)*

• Defines in what field the person was active and makes it possible to find all persons in a specific field of interest.
• Multiple entries are possible, but avoid to use to many fields.

Type of information (P11)*

• The [type of information] is always "person"

Importance (P20)

• defines how important this person was for the history of technical theatre, it is used to select items for large visualisations.
• In case of local or national or regional importance: use the context as a qualifier to define for which concrete geographic region.

• Academic or other title of the person.

• Given name

Last name (P315)

• Family name

Context (P47)

• Can be used to give more information about the person, the importance, etc.
• Text length is limited, if needed add a second value.
• Language is mandatory (fill the language of the text.)
• If the information is retrieved from an existing source, add a qualifier source (P63) or source URL (P64)

Link to internal Wikipage (P23)

• This is a link to a wiki-page that will appear on top of the page, with more detailed information about the person.
• Needs the obligatory qualifier language (P53). This refers to the language the Wikipage is written in.

Occupation (P32)

• The occupation of the person.
• Use an occupation as low in the tree as possible.
• Multiple values are possible.

Dates

Date of birth (P30)

• The date the person was born
• Optional qualifier city where the person was born.

Date of dead (P31)

• The date the person died
• Optional qualifier city where the person died.

Significant date (P237)

• A date that is significant for the person, and is not captured in the standard set of date properties available.
• Needs a obligatory qualifier timeline label (this is shown on the timeline and in lists to make the date visible.)
• Describe the event in a context qualifier

Time frame (P86)

• a period in time significant for the person, relating to a cultural movement, an architectural style or historic period.

Member of (P46)

• refers to an organisation or business the item is member of.

founder of (inverse property label of founded by (P54))

• Refers to an organisation the person has founded
• Add a statement with the property [founder] to the item-page of the organisation that the person has founded. Link there to the person that is the founder. When done, [founder of] will appear as a statement on the item-page of the person.

Worked with (P229)

• Refers to an other person the person worked with
• this is a bi-directional inverse property, it can be used on both sides.

Has worked in (P227)

• Refers to a place the person has worked in (country, city, theatre, etc.) and/or a business/organisation a person has worked for.
• Multiple values are possible.
• For countries: possible values can be found in Country (Q440).
• Add start date (P38) and end date (P39) as qualifiers if appropriate.

Student of (P123) or teacher of (P124)

• Refers to another person that was a student of this person.

teacher of (inverse property label of Student of (P123)

• Refers to anthter person that was a teacher of this person.
• Add a statement with the property [student of] to the item-page of the person that was the student of said person. When done, [teacher of] will appear as a statement on the item-page of the teacher.
• For example: Jean Rosenthal was a teacher of Stanley McCandless. We add the statement on the page of Stanley McCandless: [student of] = Jean Rosenthal. Afterwards, on the page of Jean Rosenthal, we see (automatically) the statement: [teacher of] Stanley McCandless.

Parent (P150)

• Refers to the father or the child of a person.

has child (inverse property label of Father (P150)

• Refers to the children a person has.
• Add a statement with the property [father] to the item-page of the person that is the child. When done, [has child] will appear as a statement on the item-page of the person that is the father.

was significant person for (inverse property label of significant person (P87))

• Refers to an item the person was significant for, this can be another person, a building, organisation, etc.
• Add a statement with the property [significant person] to the item-page of the item that the person was significant for. When done, [was significant person for] will appear as a statement on the item-page of the person.
  • For example: Gustav III of Sweden was a significant person for the Drottningholm Palace Theatre. We add the statement on the page of Drottningholm Palace Theatre: [significant person] = Gustav III of Sweden. Afterwards, on the page of Gustav III of Sweden, we see (automatically) the statement: [was significant person for] Drottningholm Palace Theatre.
• Describe the significance in a context (P47) qualifier.
• If two persons are significant for both each other, the relationsip should be added in both directions.

author of (inverse property label of author, P41)

• refers to a document the person has written
• add a statement with the property [author] to the item-page of the document and link from there to the person that is the author. When done, [author of] will appear as a statement on the item-page of the person.

has designed building (inverse property label of architect P48)

• refers to a building the person has designed
• add a statement with the property [architect] to the item-page of the building that the person has designed. Link there to the person that is the architect. When done, [has designed building] will appear as a statement on the item-page of the person.

has designed equipment (inverse property of equipment designer, P225)

• refers to equipment the person has designed
• add a statement with the property [equipment designer] to the item-page of the equipment the person has designed. Link there to the person that is the designer. When done, [has designed equipment] will appear as a statement on the item-page of the person.

has designed (inverse property of designer, P383)

• refers to a design the person has designed
• add the statement with the property [designer] to the item-page of the design. Link there to the person that is the designer. When done, [has designed] will appear as a statement on the item-page of the person.

has published (inverse property label of publisher P62)

• refers to a document the person (or organisation) has published
• add a statement with the property [publisher] to the item-page of the document the person has published. Link there to the person that is the publisher. When done, [has published] will appear as a statement on the item-page of the person.

has invented (inverse property label of inventor (P267))

• refers to equipment the person has invented
• add a statement with the property [inventor] to the item-page of the equipment the person has invented. Link there to the person that is the inventor. When done, [has invented] will appear as a statement on the item-page of the person.

Image of WikiCommons(P2) or Internal image (P24)

• A picture of the person.
• An [image] refers to a picture in the wiki repository of images (commons.wikimedia.org) You can link by copying the name of the file from wikipedia or from the repository.
• An [Internal image] refers to a picture in our own repository. Upload the document first and copy the link here. (You have to be sure that the picture is open source.)
• Wikicommons images are preferable
• if you add a qualifier Instance of (P1) with value “featured image" (Q105), the picture will show automatically on top of the page.

Youtube video (P116)

• a video on youtube about this person.
• if the video mentions multiple persons or subjects, make a separate source for it and use the [mentions] property to refer to the person.
• copy the string after ?v= in the Youtube url and paste it in the [Youtube video] property.

Internal video (P76) or Wikicommons video (P8)

• A video on about this person.
• If the video mentions multiple persons or subjects, make a separate source item for it and use the mentions property to refer to the person.
• An Wikicommons media refers to a picture in the wiki repository of videos (commons.wikimedia.org) You can link by copying the name of the file from wikipedia or from the repository.
• An Internal video refers to a video in our own repository. Upload the video first and copy the link here. (You have to be sure that the picture is open source.)
• Large videos are preferably stored outside of the platform due the limitations of file size.

Country of citizenship (P83)

• The country of nationality of a person

Country value list (Q440)

Has worked in (P227)

• Refers to a place the person has worked in (country, city, theatre, etc.) and/or a business/organisation a person has worked for.
• Multiple values are possible.
• For countries: possible values can be found in Country (Q440).
• Add start date (P38) and end date (P39) as qualifiers if appropriate.

Sources

Archive is kept at (P221)

• The place or organisation where (parts of) the person's archive is kept.
• Can be multiple values, in this case describe with a context qualifier the exact situation.

Web (P182)

• A web resource that is dedicated to this person only

Source URL (P64)

• A web resource that is used a information source for this item.
• Extra information about the source can be added with a context qualifier.
• If specific information is retrieved from a source, add this with a quote qualifier.

is mentioned in (inverse property label of mentions, P78)

• describes the source a person is mentioned in.
• the input is done on the source side: add a statement with the property [mentions] to the item-page of the source that mentions the person. Link there to the person that is mentioned. When done, [is mentioned in] will appear as a statement on the item-page of the person.

References

is used in theme (P311)

• a theme that a person is linked to.
• check the item-page theme for possible values.

Wikidata source (P16)

• Refers to an entry in Wikidata (https://www.wikidata.org )
• If the person exists in Wikidata, add Q-number from Wikidata
• The information from wikidata will partly be displayed at the bottom of the page.

EUTA person identifier (P70)

• Refers to an entry in EUTA (https://www.theatre-architecture.eu/ )
• If the person exists EUTA add the number at the end of the URL.
• For example if the URL is https://www.theatre-architecture.eu/db.html?personId=1455 add 1455 in the property.
