Built 1889-1890 as Tanz- und Theatersaal within the Hotel Reden. Ca. 1900 converted into a theatre (2000 seats). Re-opened 6 Oct 1900 with a prologue by Felix Dahn and the dramas Beckers Geschichte, In Feindesland, and Fest der Handwerker by the Oberschlesisches Volkstheater company. In the 1930s, major rebuilding. From 1947, used as a steelworkers' house of culture and community centre. 1978-1985 modernization. Reopened as Teatr Rozrywki (entertainment theatre) on 29 Sep 1985. 2006-2008 rebuildings. (English)
