Built 1868-1869 by city architect Hilger, converting the old electoral granary. Opened 25 Aug 1869. 1967-1969 renovations and rebuildings, again in the 1990s(?). Originally 248 seats (+ 297 standing), today 285 seats. - Home to the Neuburger Kammeroper company who produce a rarely played opera every year. Otherwise used for touring performances and concerts.
