Built 1808-1810 by Friedrich Weinbrenner for Grandduke Karl Friedrich von Baden, replacing an Orangerie building. Opened 9 Nov 1810 with Ferdinando Paër's Achilles. Destroyed by a fire on 28 Feb 1847 (with 63 victims). [Later, a new Hoftheater was built on the site.] (English)
