E’ un pregevole edificio neoclas­sico, eretto nel triennio 1850-53 dal­l’architetto Carlo Falcone. Ha subito restauri dopo un incen­dio nel 1882 e dopo un bombarda­mento bellico nel 1942. Chiuso nel 1953 per un generale restauro, è stato riaperto nel 1963 dopo importanti lavori curati dal­l’architetto Luigi Caliterna. (Italian)
