Palazzo Montalto built as universtiy college in the late 16th century. College theatre built 1879 by Francesco Gualandi, probably replacing a previous festive ballroom. Decoration by Alessandro Guardassoni and G. Minelli. Opened 15 Feb 1879. Named in honour of the Italian painter, Alessandro Guardassoni (1819-1888). Currently used for conferences, lectures, and other events by Collegio San Luigi. (English)
