Built 1964-1966 by Gerhard Graubner. Opened 24 Sep 1966 with Gotthold Ephraim Lessing's drama Nathan der Weise. 745 seats. Used for drama performances by the municipal theatre company and for dance performances by Tanztheater Wuppertal (Director: Pina Bausch). Closed 2013. It is planned to renovate and reopen the building as a venue for dance performances. (English)
