Built from the 1930s to 1954 by Victor F. Smirnov and V. P. Alexandrov. Opened as Moldavsky musikalno-dramat. teatr im. A. S. Pushkina in honour of the Russian poet, Alexander Pushkin (1799-1837). 1994 renamed Teatrul Național Mihai Eminescu in honour of the Romanian poet, Mihai Eminescu (1850-1889). (English)
