Opened 1886 as Pavilion Music Hall. 1895 renamed Lyric Theatre, 1903 renamed Palace Theatre. 1930s interior alterations. 1955 converted into a ballroom, 1968 converted into a bingo hall with a small upstairs cinema. Closed 2014. Subsequently partly demolished in favour of a new entertainment complex (opened 2017), with the 1895 facade remaining and the theatre hall used as a casino. (English)
