Re-opened 20 Sep 1897 as Empire Theatre of Varieties. 1898-1899 rebuilding, re-opened 30 July 1899 as New Theatre Royal. 1908 renamed Hippodrome. 1910 rebuilding by Frank Matcham. Ca. 1942 converted into a cinema. 1946 renamed Hippodrome Picture Theatre. Closed 1956. Subsequently demolished. (English)
