(‎Created claim: context (P47): The English Opera House, previously the Lyceum Theatre, which was the first to light its stage with gas, burned down in 1834. It was rebuilt, with its entrance on Wellington Street, instead of the Strand, under the new name of the Theatre Royal, Lyceum and English Opera House. It was in that new theatre building that Henry Irving, when he took over management of that theatre, finally dimmed the house lights for the first time.)
