Built 1899 by W. G. R. Sprague for Oswald Stoll (Moss Empires Ltd.). Opened 4 Dec 1899 as Holloway Empire & Palace Theatre. 1210 seats. Soon renamed Empire Theatre of Varieties. Since 1902, also used as a cinema. From 1923 solely used as a cinema. Closed Aug 1938. Later used as a warehouse. Demolished 1953 in favour of an office block. (English)
