Built 1690 for Herzog Albert Ulrich von Braunschweig. Opened 4 Feb 1690 with Johann Sigismund Kusser's Cleopatra. 1735 extension. 1818 renamed Nationaltheater. 1826 renamed Hoftheater. Closed 1861 when it was replaced by a new Hoftheater at another site. Demolished 1864. (English)
