Multi-purpose hall, built 1913-1920 by the Austrian esotericist and inventor of Anthroposophy, Rudolf Steiner. Named in honor of the German poet and playwright, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1759-1832). Opened 1915. Destroyed by a fire on 31 Dec 1922. [1925-1928, a new Goetheanum was built on the site.] (English)
