Built 1791-1805 after Thomas Greenway's plans for the Theatre Royal in Bath (England). Opened 1793. Used by Thomas Wignell's theatre company. Destroyed by a fire in 1820. - [In 1822, a second Chestnut Street Theatre was opened at the same site. Destroyed by fire in 1856. In 1862, a third Chestnut Street Theatre was opened at another site in Chestnut Street. Closed 1913, subsequently demolished.] (English)
