Built 1884-1888 by Joseph Cassien-Bernard as Grand Théâtre, on the site of a previous theatre (built 1755 by Mareschal). Statues by Injalbert. Opened 1 October 1888 with Meyerbeer's Les Huguenots. Ca. 1500 seats. The building also contains a concert hall, Salle Molière (400 seats). (English)
