Built before 1890 as Albany Hall. 1896 converted into a live theatre by J. C. Bourne. Opened 4 Oct 1897 as Royal County Theatre with Stanley Weyman's play Under the Red Robe. Closed 22 June 1912. 1912-1914 used as a cinema. Re-opened 27 Dec 1915 as New Revue Theatre. Renamed Royal County Theatre in Aug 1916. Closed 1917. Re-opened 29 Nov 1917 as Super Cinema. 1939 renamed County Cinema. Destroyed by fire on 9 Feb 1940. Remains converted into retail space in 1955. (English)
