Introduction

A term is a word or phrase used to describe a thing or to express a concept, especially in a particular kind of language or branch of study.

We exclude her all terms describing concrete equipment or groups of equipment, these are entered in the equipment type of information. But references to equipment that do not refer to a defined object can be entered here.

For example, a profile spot or an amplifier are equipment, but a balcony spot is a term, because it is not a specific type of spotlight.

We divide terms in a series of categories that refer to the type of term.

  • Action (verbs)
  • Documentation (all terms referring to the result of a documentation process)
  • Expressions (how we call or describe things that do not fit the other categories)
  • Material (terms referring to the physical material an object is made of)
  • Occupation (all (generic) function descriptions)
  • Place (all physical place references and directions toward a specific place)
  • Qualifier (a term that qualifies an object)

This makes it possible to structure the information.

>>> We need to check where we use type of information and subclass, seems not have been used consequently.<<<

Additional notes

Over time the same term sometimes gets a different meaning. When this meaning goes further than a nuance in the description, it becomes a new concept and thus a new term.
