Built 1938 by Cristofano Crociani, Flaminio Betti, Pietro Galeotti and Alberto Pianigiani. Named in honour of the Italian composer, Pietro Mascagni (1863-1945). Also known as Teatro comunale Pietro Mascagni. Opened 26 July 1938. First performance on 29 July 1938: Pietro Mascagni's opera L'amico Fritz and his Sinfonia delle maschere, conducted by the composer. 400 seats. 1944 war damages, subsequently closed. Re-opened 1996.
