Performing arts and convention centre, built 1960-1963 by Hans Joachim Budeit on the site of the former Stadttheater (opened 1877, destroyed by fire in 1957). Opened 11 May 1963. 2001 renovations. The complex includes three halls: Pina-Bausch-Saal (a theatre with 809 seats), named after the Solingen-born German coreographer, Pina Bausch (1940-2009) Konzertsaal (concert hall, 1075 seats) Kleiner Konzertsaal (concert hall, ca. 200 seats) (English)
