E’ un vasto elegante teatro sto­rico, eretto su progetto dell’archi­tetto Angelo Messeni fra il 1899 e il 1903. Fa parte dei « teatri di tradizio­ne » e come tale ospita annualmen­te un’importante stagione lirica, oltre a spettacoli vari, di prosa e di rivista, e proiezioni cinematogra­fiche. Ha una capienza di 3.000 po­sti circa ed appartiene ad una so­cietà che ha sede nei locali annessi al ridotto. (Italian)
