Part of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Built by Eero Saarinen & Associates with collaborating designer Jo Mielziner. Opened 21 Oct 1965. Named in honour of the American actress and philanthropist, Vivian Beaumont (1885-1962) who helped fund the theatre. 1164 seats. 2012 amended by the Claire Tow Theater (by Hugh Hardy / H3 Hardy Collaboration Architecture), a studio theatre with 112 seats sitting on the roof of Saarinen's building. Used as one of the venues of the Lincoln Center Theater. (English)
