Built by John Cecil Clavering. Opened 28 Mar 1936 as Odeon Cinema. 1711 seats. Closed 1988. 1993-1996 rebuilt and adapted for the drama company founded by director Stephen Joseph in 1955. Reopened 30 April 1996. The theatre contains two halls: The Round (theatre in the round, 404 seats) and The McCarthy (theatre and cinema, 165 seats). (English)
