Built 1776-1788 by Mathurin Crucy. Opened 23 March 1788. Destroyed by a fire on 27 Aug 1796, leaving only the exterior walls. Subsequently rebuilt by Mathurin Crucy. Re-opened 3 May 1813 with Pierre-Alexandre Monsigny's Aline, Reine de Golconde. 1968 and 2004 renovations. 900 seats. (English)
