18th- or 19th-century barn, purchased in 1949 by Alton Wilkes, a drama teacher at the University of Connecticut. Converted in to a theatre and opened 3 July 1950 as Lake Region Playhouse. Used as a summer theatre. 1970 renamed Gilford Playhouse. 1976 renamed Lake Region Playhouse again. Closed 1982. Destroyed 1983 by the Gilford Fire Department in a planned burn. (English)
