Opened Nov 1887 as Konzerthaus Ludwig (later known as Konzerthaus Hamburg). 1914 renamed Hamburger Volksoper (also known as Volksoper Hamburg or Volksoper am Millerntorplatz). Destroyed by bombs in July 1943. Remains demolished. The concert organ was translocated to St. Boniface Church in Eimsbüttel. [1966, the Iduna-Hochhaus high-rise was built on the former site of the theatre, replaced by the Millerntor-Hochhaus in 1998.] (English)
