Built 1827 by Pietro Ghinelli, incorporating parts of the Palazzo Gregori that occupied the site. Opened 1 Sep 1827 as Teatro Apollo with Gioacchino Rossini's opera Semiramide. 1891 renovations. Re-opened 1891 as Teatro Piermarini in honour of the Foligno-born theatre architect, Giuseppe Piermarini (1734-1808). 478 seats. Destroyed by aerial bombing on 16 May 1944, with only the facade and the foyer remaining. Subsequently rebuilt and mainly used as a cinema (named Cinema Vittoria). Currently used as exhibition space and bar. (English)
