Built 1954-1956 by Harald Deilmann, Max von Hausen, Ortwin Rave and Werner Ruhnau, incorporating some ruined walls of the previous theatre on the site, the Lortzing-Theater (destroyed by bombs in 1941). Officially opened 4 Feb 1956 with Mozart's Die Zauberflöte. 955 seats. 1971 exension by a studio theatre Kleines Haus (280 seats). - Until 2012, also known as Städtische Bühnen Münster, currently known as Theater Münster. Used by the resident opera, ballet, drama and youth theatre companies. Home to the Sinfonieorchester Münster. (English)
