Built 1964 by Sir Basil Spence & Partners. Named in honour of its sponsor, the Nuffield Foundation. Originally operated by the University of Southampton, since 1982 operated as an independent producing theatre. 1987 and 2004 refurbishment. Originally up to 506 seats, currently up to 482 seats.
