Concert hall and theatre, built 1913. Opened 1 Nov 1913. First theatrical performance 1914 with Bizet's opera Carmen. Closed due to severe damages by bombs in World War II. 1953-1954 major exterior and interior rebuilding. Re-opened 1955 with a ballet performance. 1960 renovation. Closed 1997. Demolished in favour of a new theatre, Schouwburg Hengelo (Rabotheater Hengelo), opened 2001. (English)
