    Greek pl. episkenia literally the upper upper story of the Greek Hellenistic skēnē . In the early Hellenistic theater the episkenion was the the second floor of the skēnē or Greek stage house. It was recessed from the roof of the proskenion. The proskenion roof was the stage logeion in the Hellenistic theatre. The episkenion facade was pierced by one or more openings thyromata that could be fitted with painted panels or doors."" (English)
