Many old articles state that the theatre was built in the city park, but this is not true. Borås old theatre was inaugurated on 6 September 1873 with the performance "The Wedding at Ulfåsa" and at that time there was no city park. The first theatre building did not look the way most Borås citizens saw it, the theatre got its final design in 1900. The cost of building the theatre was SEK 21,000 and was paid by the privately owned Teaterbolaget. In 1923 the municipality took over the theatre. On the night of 4 December 1983, the theatre was demolished, despite strong opposition from many Borås citizens. (English)

(Swedish)
