Built 1826 by Ithiel Town, on the site of an old tavern and a cattle market. Also known as New York Theatre and Bull's Head Theatre. Opened 22 Oct 1826 with the drama The Road to Ruin. Destroyed by fire and rebuilt in 1828, 1836, 1838, and 1845. 1879 renamed Thalia Theatre, subsequently used for performances in Hebrew. Destroyed by fire and rebuilt in 1923. 1929 renamed Fay's Bowery Theatre. Finally destroyed by fire on 5 June 1929. (English)
