Opened 18 Sep 1899 as Royal Duchess Theatre with Sidney Jones's musical comedy The Geisha. 1268 seats. 1903 renamed Duchess Palace Theatre, 1906 renamed Duchess Theatre, 1909 renamed Balham Hippodrome Theatre. Severely damaged by bombs in World War II. Remains demolished in the 1960s in favour of an apartment block (Balham Hill Estate). (English)
